Blowing Rock, North Carolina  One day a Chickasaw Princess spied a Cherokee brave  below the Blowing Rock and playfully shot an arrow in his direction. The flirtation worked and they soon became lovers. One day a strange reddening of the sky signaled to the brave that it was a sign to return to his tribe. With the maiden's pleas not to leave her, the brave, leaped from The Rock. The grief-stricken maiden prayed to the Great Spirit until a gust of wind blew her lover back onto The Rock and into her arms.
